Deeply Rooted Issue 15: Disciple

$ 16 $ 24

Issue fifteen is titled Disciple.

Many of us are familiar with the call of Matthew 28:19 to go and make disciples of all nations. Christ gave this command to the apostles just before he ascended into heaven. We tend to think of this verse solely in terms of evangelism, but when we focus only on sharing the Gospel, we miss out on the fuller meaning of the command Christ gave the apostles and us. The Greek word disciple in this context is μαθητεύσατε (matheteusate), which means in English to be a pupil, or be teachingboth of which are required of the Christ-follower. We cannot make disciples if we are not already disciples ourselves. In this issue, touch on what this looks like for us modern-day Christians. How does one become a disciple and thereby disciple someone else?
